Lioness recovers at rehabilitation centre

We left early this morning to travel to a nearby reserve to dart a young lioness that has split from her pride and is in obvious distress and very ill.  She was successfully darted and taken to a nearby veterinary clinic for tests.  There is no obvious sign of injury, but she is covered in ticks and is running a very high fever. Her red blood cell count is very well indicating a serious infection, but we still do not know what exactly is wrong with her.  Blood samples have been taken and has been sent away for testing.  In the interim, she has been given treatment to fight the infection and to deal with internal and external parasites. She will be held in one of our rehabilitation camps until the results of the tests become available.  Once she is well, she will be returned and reunited with her pride.
