Murder is murder, no getting around it. Be it an animal or a human being. As a wildlife rescue and rehabilitation centre, we certainly do get to deal with some really nasty people and the things humans sometimes do to animals is incomprehensible.
In a recent incident a baboon female nursing a young was maliciously shot by someone on the main road between Gravelotte and Letsitele and if it was not enough killing the poor animal and leaving her unweaned young to fend for itself, she was strung up and tied to a fence and a cigarette stuck in her mouth. This disrespect towards animals should not be tolerated by any decent human being and people that do things like this should be prosecuted to the full extent of the law. Fortunately her unweaned baby could be captured and was passed onto a bona-fide baboon rehabilitation project in Phalaborwa.
